Transmit, the #1 File Transfer Client for Mac, is now available for iOS.
Nov 14, 2018 Transmit now connects to 11 new cloud services, like Backblaze B2, Box, Google Drive, DreamObjects, Dropbox, Microsoft Azure, and Rackspace Cloud Files. And yes, Transmit still handles the classics — FTP, SFTP, WebDAV, and S3 — better than any. We make complex services drag-and-drop simple. Oct 16, 2012 In order to use this handy feature, each Mac must be running OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) or newer, but they don’t need to be running the same version. For example, that means you can move files remotely between OS X 10.10 and OS X 10.9 using this screen share method.
For some time, I’ve been using Transmit for Mac as my main FTP client. It’s one of my favorite Mac apps of all time. In fact, when I am installing apps on a new Mac, the first app I find myself installing is Transmit and that’s because I find myself using Transmit for Mac daily. It’s fantastic app from the developers at Panic and now they have released a version for iOS. With the bigger screen of my iPhone 6 Plus or my iPad, I can make quick changes to sites I’m working on via FTP using Transmit for iOS. The original release was in September and Panic has released two updates to the app since then. This shows me that Panic is dedicated to ensuring their apps are functional and that they will continue to support it. So, what types of features do you get with Transmit for iOS?
- Full Remote File Management
- Save & Upload Files from iOS Share Sheet
- Connect to FTP, SFTP, Amazon S3 and WebDAV
- Twin-Turbo Background Transfer Engine
- Drag & Drop functionality
- Edit Documents from Compatible Third-Party Apps
- Panic Sync (currently only works between Transmit for iOS and Coda. Support for Diet Coda and Transmit for Mac is coming soon.)
- Transmit for iOS allows you to connect to files servers so that you can manage your files. The biggest advantage that Transmit for iOS has over the Mac version is the availability to use Share Sheet. When you are browsing photos, videos, or Voice Memos, you can now share directly to your SFTP server.

According to Panic’s website, the developer resisted releasing the popular file transfer app for mobile use for a long time. It didn’t makes sense to them in a world where apps could only see their own files, but when Apple announced iOS 8 with the system Share sheet, Panic quickly made the changes needed.
I was thoroughly impressed with the interface of Transmit for iOS. It’s intuitive and very easy to navigate. It’s a very pleasant experience on the iPhone 6 Plus. One very important feature I want to point out is that Transmit for iOS takes advantage of utilizing Touch ID for added security. It’s very easy to add files from other places on your iOS device and even easy to share them outwardly through Internet connections. In addition to being able to share files between apps, Transmit for iOS can also talk to your Mac’s SSH/SFTP server by the Remote Login feature under System Preferences. This is another problem that iOS users have struggled with for some time. Other mobile devices have the ability to store files on a memory card or can easily drag/drop files from the mobile device to a computer. Transmit for iOS can now assist with file transfers between iOS devices and Macs, too.
I really can’t say enough good things about Transmit for iOS. It’s a wonderful file transfer client that produces an efficient workflow directly on my iOS devices. Transmit for iOS retails for $9.99. This is a special launch price that will only be available for a limited time. For more information visit, panic.com.

One of the reasons why Transmit became so popular on Mac was not only its incredibly large feature set that allowed its users to preform FTP management that was truly modern and optimized, but its interface. Main dashboard of the tool is can showcase listing of data in both one or two panes, with several listing options, easy to set up your most commonly used FTP or cloud destinations, twin progress bar, image thumbnail viewer, fast transfer engine that is especially optimized for working with smaller files, file syncing tool, and more. Users can even spend just few seconds and mount their favorite FTP or cloud destinations directly into their Finder, enabling them to preform file transfer operations even if Transmit for macOS is not active! With this feature anyone can start moving files to and from your Mac with incredible ease.
As of early 2014, the latest version of the app weights just a little less than 40MB and requires users to have at least macOS 10.6.8 or newer.
